Questions people ask
What are the most practical AI use cases in procurement today?
Spend classification, quote comparison, contract renewal monitoring, invoice price checks against contracts, negotiation preparation and supplier email triage. All of them run with Microsoft 365 or general AI assistants and take hours to days to set up.
Do I need specialist procurement software to use AI?
Not for most of these 28 use cases. They run on Microsoft 365 (Copilot, Power Automate, Copilot Studio) or general assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude. Specialist software is needed mainly for autonomous negotiation bots and large-scale invoice automation.
Which AI use case in procurement should we start with?
One with a lot of repetitive reading or comparing, data you already have, and a result you can check: quote comparison, contract renewal monitoring or spend classification are the usual first picks.
